Ada Sunrise Rotary members volunteered at the Glass Recycling at ECU program, helping organize glass and getting a hands-on look at how recycled material becomes pavers.
On September 21, 2025, Ada Sunrise Rotary members volunteered at the Glass Recycling at ECU program on the East Central University campus. Members helped organize collected glass and got a behind-the-scenes look at how recycled glass is ground into sand and poured into molds to create decorative pavers. Program director Adrian Odhiambo guided volunteers through the process.
Glass recycling keeps bottles and jars out of landfills and gives them new life. The ECU program is one of the few glass recycling operations in Southeast Oklahoma, filling an important gap in the region's environmental infrastructure.
Ada Sunrise Rotary's partnership with Glass Recycling at ECU reflects the club's commitment to environmental stewardship alongside its other service work in the community.
