Fourteen Ada Sunrise Rotarians volunteered Saturday, July 25, at the Splashtastic Community Free Event at the Glenwood Splashpad, a back-to-school celebration hosted in partnership with Ada Veterinary Clinic and Ada Regional United Way. Together, the partners served more than 150 families with dogs while also providing backpacks, shoes, haircuts, and lunch for local kids.

Fourteen Ada Sunrise Rotarians turned out Saturday, July 25, for the Splashtastic Community Free Event at the Glenwood Splashpad, a back-to-school celebration hosted in partnership with Ada Veterinary Clinic and Ada Regional United Way. Together, the partners served more than 150 families with dogs.

Rotarians spent the morning working alongside the Ada Vet Clinic team, which provided free rabies and DAPPL4 vaccinations along with flea and tick preventatives. All vaccines and preventatives were donated by Boehringer Ingelheim and Elanco. Club members helped weigh dogs, hand out flea/tick medication, hand out sample bags donated by Hill's Pet Nutrition, and safely restrain animals while veterinary staff gave vaccinations.

The club also hosted its own information booth, giving members a chance to talk with families about Rotary, our service projects, and how to get involved. Our booth neighbors from PAWS, the Pontotoc Animal Welfare Shelter, made for great company, and Rotarians pointed visitors their way to learn about free spay and neuter services for their pets.

Alongside the pet clinic, the Splashtastic event provided families backpacks, new tennis shoes, free haircuts, a hot dog lunch, and door prizes to help get the school year started right. It was a fun morning, a good partnership, and another example of what Service Above Self looks like in Ada.
